ProFHER trial

New publication on the ProFHER trial link to document 9 is an instant hit! This major trial on proximal humeral fractures led by Professor Amar Rangan was published on the 10th March. The paper is in the top 5% of papers tracked by Altmetric. The study showed no difference in outcomes between undergoing surgery and wearing a sling for proximal humeral fractures. The paper has generated more interest and enthusiasm than the authors expected, with several clinicians around the world hailing it as a ‘landmark trial’ and ‘practice changing study’. Professor Rangan has been fielding media queries and interviews, from local BBC Tees to the New York Times. There would be considerable cost saving to health economies if the findings of the study were widely adopted.
